In south-central British Columbia lies Upper Seymour River Provincial Park; north of the off grid community of Seymour Arm. The only way to get to this photographed location is on an ATV, on a decommissioned logging road. Here you will find TRUE solitude, a pristine waterway and nature is abound. We live in such a beautiful part of the World. That said, on this particular trip we observed an incredibly thunderous grizzly bear sauntering across the sand bar! Needless to say, we promptly left because we knew that if the grizzly decided to give chase we wouldn’t be able to turn our ATV around quick enough (on the narrow overgrown road we were on). Interestingly, notice the dark trees in the background; as the sun was setting they were in the shade of the mountain to which they are rooted while the valley floor was illuminated by the sun. What I love about this photo are the vibrant colours and varied densities. I too love the mix of both horizontal and vertical lines ...and of course, I love how it makes me feel. :-) This photo will always remind me that enormous bear but more importantly it reminds me of how much I value the tranquility and solitude that nature provides.
I recently attended a Photography conference in Pincher Creek, Alberta, and one of the many things that was discussed was the pros and cons of social media. This is my take on social media (relating to creativity). Although there’s a lot of negative, associated with social media these days, there are a lot of positive aspects too. Sure, for some it’s all about how many likes, followers and comments they get but for others however, they simply want to share their art because it gives them joy; a reason. and a goal…. thus purpose. Art (of any kind) is therapy and sharing one’s creations makes the artist feel purposeful; that then, is their reward. We create, we learn, we share…. repeat. Life is in the sharing and that’s why I’ve shared this image with you. I sincerely thank you all for being my receptive audience…. here on social media :-) *Anise Swallowtail Butterfly (Papilio Zelicaon), found in Western North America.
Summer's here, and I'm thoroughly enjoying my time with my family, grandchildren and friends. That said, my grandson played an instrumental role in getting this shot, by continually capturing and replacing it as it hoped out of the scene, lol. In some Native American cultures, frogs are considered to be the "keepers of the rain" and if you see one, that means the rain is coming.... we could use that! My camera has an "oops"(I shattered the back screen), so it's headed out for repair. I don't care for the harsh light of summer anyways so now's the time to get the repair work done. Oh well, I'll still be busy working on the I many unedited photos I have. I hope you're all having a fantastic summer! Remember that every new journey begins with a single hop 😊♥️
