In my retirement, I’m enjoying many of the things I’ve waited years to do. Not to be misunderstood however, I greatly enjoyed business development; especially the creative implementation of them (and friends I've made along the way!). I occasionally miss the business world, until I remember the taxing hours developing a business demands. I’ve been brainstorming, “What can I do that would combine my passion for business and fill my creative soul?”. Oh my gosh, the answer has been in my face the whole time, a career in travel photography. So, to fill that void I now have (this) website that offers a printing service. You can follow me on Facebook and Instagram (look for their links at the bottom of each page). The photographic industry has changed so much (since I had my photo lab and studio), that I have had a lot to learn. I really enjoy the challenge though, and the creative results are (personally) rewarding. I know I’ll be continually challenged but what a great way to keep both my brain active, myself active and my creative soul engaged. ABOUT THIS PHOTO: This photograph contains 14 photos (Yes! ...14, all layered on top of each other), as well as HOURS of tedious work to set it up and a lot of time post processing. LOL, I quickly discovered that the water droplets had a mind of their own! I can’t tell you how many times I had everything just .....perfect, when a droplet would drop off, roll together or, or, or! :-) *FYI: The droplets are ONLY 3 mm wide.
The highly decorative Columbine flower grows wild in many parts of North America; this variety happened to be growing near my cabin in British Columbia. They grow in poor soil conditions and they’re generally found in shaded areas. The eye-catching red and yellow flowers hang down from their stems (I had to lie on the ground to get this photo), and are composed of 5 distinct red petals and upright red spurs. I named this photo “The Courage To Endure” because the Columbine flower is sometimes given as a gift to provide courage and endurance in one's endeavors. That said, this flower also has the “courage to endure” in its growing environment.
The daisy has many meanings; innocence, purity and a new beginning are among them. The other generally accepted meanings include: New beginnings; which is why they are often found in bouquets for new mothers or as gifts for children. True love; because each daisy flower is really two flowers blended together in harmony. Keeper of secrets: it symbolizes that the sender can keep a secret; after all, keeping a secret is one way a person can exhibit that they truly love another. New Beginnings; a perfect gift for someone who is making some life changes as well as new mothers. Innocence; especially with white daisies with yellow or pale centers (hence the name of this photograph). Purity; also shown by daisies that are as white as possible. It's because of that daisy's correlation to purity that I choose to limit the color saturation in this photo and keep it looking "daisy fresh". The full color version of this photograph is vibrant and is available by special request... thanks.
